Overdentures in Santa Clarita
An overdenture is a removable denture that snaps onto implants. It sits between a regular denture and an implant for every missing tooth.
What to expect from overdentures with us
Over is the key word: the denture fits over a few implants set in the jaw. Fittings on the implants and inside the denture connect, so it clicks into place for eating and talking and comes out for cleaning. For someone who has struggled with a denture that floats or rubs, that hold is the main reason to consider it.
Because the implants sit in the bone, they also do something a denture alone cannot. The practice's implants page explains that missing teeth lead to bone loss in the jaw, and that implants address it in a way dentures cannot. Each implant goes in the way the practice describes for any implant: a post where a root used to be, then about two to four months for the bone to fuse with it.
This office places implants, fits dentures, removes teeth that cannot be saved, and has periodontist Dr. Dennis R. Hunt for bone and gum work, so an overdenture plan stays under one roof. Bring your current denture to the exam; X-rays and a look at your bone show whether implants are possible and what the plan would involve.
- Snaps onto implants, lifts out to clean
- Steadier than a denture held by suction
- Implants help protect the jaw bone
- Extractions and grafts in the same office
- Bring your current denture to the exam

Overdentures FAQ
The names overlap. Overdenture usually means the removable kind that snaps onto implants, while implant-supported denture is the broader term. Either way, implants anchor the denture instead of the gums alone.
Yes. It clips onto the implants and comes out for cleaning, which is what separates it from a fixed set of teeth.
The implants need about two to four months to fuse with the bone before the denture is attached to them. Extractions or bone grafts beforehand add time.
